Wellness Warrior Award

Kathy and Gordon Chapple were not only dear personal friends and founding members of the Wellness City Challenge organization, they were more importantly leaders in the Contra Costa County community that helped to enact change for better health. Kathy contributed to many of the first undertakings of the WCC, spearheading the Wellness Commissioners Program and developing a K-8 educational curriculum and School Wellness Policy for Walnut Creek School District. They dedicated their lives to serving others and worked tirelessly to make a better future for our children.

Kathy and Gordon tragically passed away in an accident while on a family vacation in Utah. The community continues to mourn their loss, and this award was created to commemorate their accomplishments, and to serve as a reminder of the legacy that they left for us.

The Kathy and Gordon Chapple Wellness Warrior Award is given out annually to individuals who have taken the Challenge and made an immense impact on improving the health of others.
